The sizzling New York NL Mets won by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2. New York NL tallied 1 run in the top of the 7th inning. San Francisco had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. The win went to Dave Tomlin(3-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Skip Lockwood earned the save, his 7th. Tom Griffin(1-4) was the losing pitcher. Jon Fellows was beaming after the game, 'Not only were we making good contact, but a lot of balls we hit seemed to have 'eyes'! I just love winning these tight ones! It was just our evening - no doubt about it!'
