Subject: Mets take 3 of 4 at Chavez Ravine

Four close games.  It takes 15 innings for the Dodgers to stave off the sweep.  How about Skip Lockwood striking out 11 in 5 innings of relief!?

The Los Angeles Dodgers nipped the New York NL Mets in 15 innings 4 to 3 at
Dodger Stadium in a hard fought contest.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings.  Los Angeles came out
the victor in the 15th inning.  Ron Cey doubled.  After an out was recorded,
Davey Lopes came to the plate and reached on an error.  Henry Cruz was next
to the plate, but was promptly struck out.  Dusty Baker was up next and he
banged out a single making Los Angeles the winners and sending the 22,879
fans home happy.  Both teams ended up with 11 on the afternoon.
The victory went to Stan Wall(1-1) who went 5 innings, allowing no runs. Bob
Apodaca(4-5) was charged with the loss in relief.  He was the victim of a
defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.
