sept 2 Wayne Garrett jacked one out of the ballyard at Jack Murphy Stadium where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres by the score of 6 to 1. The game started off with Los Angeles taking the lead in the first plating an isolated run on 3 hits. Garrett singled. After an out was recorded, Gary Matthews came to the plate and doubled. After another out, Steve Garvey stepped in and he lined a one-base hit scoring the run. Los Angeles finished with 13 hits while San Diego ended up with 4. Burt Hooton(16-7) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 6 innings. Nelson Briles(9-13) was tagged with the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
