Marty Pattin(7-6) blanked the slumping San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium. The Los Angeles Dodgers scored managed just one run for the victory.
Pattin was called upon to do the job and he was the winning pitcher. He surrendered 3 hits and 1 walk in 2 innings. Both teams ended up with 6 on the night.
Tom Burgmeier gained credit for his 22nd save. Jim Barr(10-13) took the loss. He allowed just 1 run and 6 hits in 8 innings.
Los Angeles now has a record of 72-79. Not able to get much going in recent weeks, San Francisco is 1-9 of late and now has an overall record of 57-94, worst in the division.

The Los Angeles Dodgers toppled the slumping San Francisco Giants by a 8 to 4 score at Dodger Stadium.
Los Angeles took the lead off John Montefusco in the first inning plating an isolated run utilizing 2 base hits. Los Angeles kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.
The victory went to Tommy John(12-10) who went 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing 4 runs. Tom Burgmeier got the save, his 23rd. The loss was charged to Montefusco(9-14). He allowed 11 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings.
The Los Angeles ballclub's record now stands at 73-79. San Francisco continued their losing ways and their record is now 57-95, worst in the division. They are 0-10 in their last ten games.

Los Angeles started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the first as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits. Los Angeles won despite being out-hit by San Francisco 8 hits to 5.
Don Sutton(9-14) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Ed Halicki(5-15) took the loss. He pitched 7 innings giving up 5 hits and 7 walks.

Dusty Baker had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the ice-cold San Francisco Giants by a score of 10 to 1.
San Francisco was unable to claim the lead after Los Angeles went ahead in the bottom of the 2nd inning scoring 2 runners on 4 hits. That was all Dick Ruthven(10-14) needed. Los Angeles out-hit San Francisco for the game, 18 hits to 8.
Ruthven got help from Marty Pattin who was credited with his 11th save. Rob Dressler(6-13) took the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 6 runs in 3 innings.
