New York closes out the 1976 season enjoying the attractions of Montreal, getting ready for the NLCS vs the Red Menace.

Third baseman Buddy Bell had 3 base hits at Jarry Park as the potent New York
NL Mets beat the Montreal Expos in 11 innings by the count of 5 to 1.

Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings.  New York NL was
victorious in the 11th inning.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Sixto
Lezcano who silenced the crowd when he doubled plating two runs.  New York NL
totaled 9 on the night.

Dave Tomlin(6-2) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Dale Murray(5-5)
was the loser in relief.  He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an
earned run in his 3 and 2/3 innings of work.

That was all Wilbur Wood(1-3) needed.  Montreal totaled 9 on the night.

Wood was helped out by Dale Murray who recorded his 28th save.  Steve
Carlton(14-16) was the loser.  He pitched 7 innings giving up 9 hits and 1
walk.

Montreal took the lead for good in the bottom of the 5th inning scoring 2 runs
on 2 hits.  Frank Duffy led off the inning for Montreal when he stroked a
base-hit.  Duane Kuiper stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk.  Rogers
then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Alex Johnson followed and he singled
plating two runs.  Montreal managed 11 in their victory.

The win was credited to Rogers(15-12) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs.
Mickey Lolich(7-11) suffered the loss.  He gave up 6 runs and 9 hits in 7
innings.

It was a great finish at Jarry Park as the Montreal Expos pulled off a
dramatic comeback beating the New York NL Mets by the count of 6 to
5.

Montreal came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
scoring 3 runs using 3 hits.  Del Unser opened up the inning nicely when he
doubled.  Mike Jorgensen followed and he stroked a base-hit bringing in a
run.  Mike Schmidt then bombed a two-run dinger (his 39th of the season)
giving Montreal the victory and sending the 7,924 home-town fans home happy.
Montreal totaled 11 on the afternoon.

The win went to Don Stanhouse(10-12) who allowed 1 run in 1 inning. Skip
Lockwood(8-4) suffered the loss in relief.  Steve Bivens was in great spirits
in his post-game interview.  Yet, when asked about his feelings after the
thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered, 'I'll tell you this much - I know
how my counterpart, Jon Fellows, feels right now - and it's not very good.
It's terrible when you come up on the short end of one of these!'
