Jack Clark smacked 2 homeruns and had 7 RBI at Riverfront Stadium as the San

Francisco Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds by the count of 10 to 7.

Clark really lit it up for San Francisco .  The Cincinnati fans let him have it

for what he did to their boys.  He banged out a single in the 1st inning,

smashed a two-run homer in the 3rd inning, lofted a three-run bomb (his 3rd

of the season) in the 4th inning and laced a one-base hit scoring two

baserunners in the 6th inning.  Overall San Francisco out-hit Cincinnati 13

to 10.

Reggie Cleveland(2-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings

and allowing 6 runs. Cleveland got help from Randy Moffitt who earned his 3rd

save.  Doug Capilla(1-2) was tagged with the loss.  He was knocked around,

surrendering 7 runs in 6 innings.

'I felt great out there tonight' Clark said.  'I was seeing the ball

perfectly, and I was right on it with my swing.

WEB GEMS- Bot 5th: Joe Ferguson blocked the plate, saving a run!

Wayne Garrett homered and had 4 RBI as the San Francisco Giants defeated the

Cincinnati Reds by the score of 8 to 1 at Riverfront Stadium.

Garrett had a big evening at the plate.  He slapped a single bringing in a run

in the 2nd inning, lined a one-base hit which plated a run in the 6th inning

and smashed a two-run homer (his 2nd of the season) in the 8th inning.

Offensively, San Francisco was a juggernaut.  They scored in 6 separate

innings.

The win was credited to Bob Knepper(4-1) who went 7 innings allowing 1 run.

Dock Ellis(2-4) was hit with the loss.  He was touched for 12 hits and 2

walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.
