august 28 Bill Singer went 6 strong innings as the San Francisco Giants defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 4 to 2 at Candlestick Park. Dave Heaverlo(6-2) was solid in relief, and he got credit for the win. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 2 hits and no walks in 2 innings. San Francisco banged out 7 on the night. Heaverlo got help from Gary Lavelle who earned his 25th save. Terry Forster(4-4) ended up with the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 runs and 3 hits in 2/3 of an inning.
