Subject: Disaster in St. Louis

The Mets visit Busch Stadium with the hope of jumping into the division lead.  Instead the Cardinals sweep the Mets.

Next week's series at Olympic Stadium is now do-or-die.

Lyman Bostock had 5 hits and 4 RBI at Busch Stadium where the St. Louis
Cardinals beat the New York NL Mets by the score of 9 to 6.

Bostock enjoyed a great evening at the plate.  Every time he came up in the
latter innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering.  He laced a base-hit in
the 1st inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 2nd inning, smashed a solo-shot
out of the park (his 10th of the season) in the 4th inning, laced a single
which was good for two runs in the 5th inning and tripled which plated a run
in the 7th inning.  John Urrea was perfect in the ninth giving him his 4th
save on the season.

The winning pitcher was Eric Rasmussen(19-8) who allowed 5 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings. Pat Zachry(11-12) was the loser.  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 9 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings.

'Bostock led the way - we just jumped on his back and let him take us,'
Rasmussen said. 'I'm glad I don't have to face him. I'm glad he's on my
team.'
