Subject: Congratulations to the 1977 NL East Champion Montreal Expos

The Mets blew this series in agonizing fashion.  We took a 5-1 lead into the 8th inning of game 1.  With Skip Lockwood in the game to pitch the 8th:

Roger Freed hit the walk-off homer off the Goose in the bottom of the 9th.

We scuffled back to take game 2 with a Bruce Boisclair pinch-hit 2-run homer to provide the big blow.

New York lost game 3 when Pat Zachry gave up a pair of 2-run homers -- to Gary Carter and IVAN DE JESUS(!).  Steve Rogers won his 22nd.

With the Mets facing effective elimination in game 4, they jumped all over Frank Tanana for 8 runs in 5 IP (Game Score 16).  Unfortunately, Steve Carlton  was raked for 4 circuit clouts over 2+ innings -- including 2 by Roger F'ing Freed -- for a Game Score of 10.  Warren Brusstar gave up 3 over the next two innings to put the game ultimately out of reach.
