With a magic number of “2” the Expos and Cards try to top each other in defensive lapses. The Expos make the final one when Kuiper lets a double play ball roll by him for a base-hit. Otherwise a well pitched game and the Cardinals live on for game 160.

One run was the difference at Busch Stadium as the seemingly unstoppable St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Montreal Expos 3 to 2.
Paul Siebert(5-1) pitched in relief and was credited with the victory. He went 2/3 of an inning allowing 1 hit and no walks. Montreal had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Siebert got help from Rollie Fingers who was credited with his 29th save. Elias Sosa(5-3) took the loss in relief. He allowed 1 run and 3 hits in 1 and 1/3 innings. |
