In a great finish the Los Angeles Dodgers came back in the top of the ninth
and held on to win over the Montreal Expos by a score of 4 to 3 at Olympic
Stadium.

Los Angeles erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
with 3 runs on 5 hits.  Terry Puhl opened up the inning nicely when he hit a
single.  Dusty Baker was next and he lashed a single.  Lee Lacy then laid
down a sacrifice bunt.  Chet Lemon was up next and he laced a single scoring
a run.  Steve Staggs came to the plate and doubled plating one more runner.
Davey Lopes joined his teammates in the uprising and slapped a one-base hit
scoring the final run of the inning.  Los Angeles had a total of 8 hits for
the game.

Lance Rautzhan(1-0) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory.
Rautzhan got help from Terry Forster who was credited with his 1st save.
Elias Sosa(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.

Montreal Expos broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out a 9 to 6
win over the Los Angeles Dodgers and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.

Montreal had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3
runs.  After an out was recorded, Elias Sosa started the attack as he reached
on an error.  Ivan Dejesus stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk.
Dan Ford then clubbed a three-run home run (his 1st of the season) resulting
in an exciting win for Montreal and a raucous post-game celebration by the
home town fans.  Los Angeles scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky
pitching kept them from victory.

The win was credited to Sosa(1-1) who went 1 inning allowing 1 run. Don
Kirkwood(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.  By giving up 7 runs in 1 and
1/3 innings his ERA increased from 5.40 to 15.43.
