april 17 The San Francisco Giants edged the Los Angeles Dodgers in 12 innings at Candlestick Park by the score of 2 to 1. The score was tied at 1 after nine. San Francisco won the game in the 12th inning. Bill Madlock slapped a single. Joe Coleman then let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch. Mike Ivie then stroked a single making San Francisco the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. San Francisco rapped out 7 hits for the night. The winning pitcher was Doug Bair(1-1) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Coleman(1-1) took the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 2 hits without retiring a batter.
