Steve Garvey blasted 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the LosAngeles Dodgers
topped the floundering Montreal Expos in 10 innings by a score of 5 to 3 at
Olympic Stadium.

The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings.  Los Angeles won the hard
fought contest in the 10th inning.  Kurt Bevacqua led off and he drew a walk.
Garvey next to the plate and he cleared the fences for a two-run home run
(his 9th of the season).  Los Angeles ended up with 13 hits for the game
while Montreal had 9.

The win was credited to Terry Forster(1-1) who went 2 innings allowing no
runs. Bill Atkinson(1-3) suffered the loss in relief.  He gave up 2 runs and
2 hits without retiring a batter.

'I've spent a lot of time in the cage and made some adjustments and they've
paid off,' Garvey said. 'I just take the same approach up there. I don't
overanalyze it. I go up there, see the ball and try to put a good swing on
it.'

Mike Schmidt had 4 hits as the Montreal Expos rallied impressively to win in
dramatic style over Los Angeles Dodgers, 3 to 2.

Montreal had the game winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing
3 base hits.  Ivan Dejesus kicked off the action when he smacked a single.
After an out was recorded, Schmidt came up and he hit a single.  After
another out, A balk was stepped up to the plate and he called.  Ellis
Valentine was up next and he laced a single making Montreal the winners and
sending the 26,459 fans home happy.  Montreal had 13 hits overall, while Los
Angeles had 6.

David Clyde(1-1) allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning, and picked up the
victory. Terry Forster(1-2) absorbed the loss in relief.  He gave up 2 hits
and 1 walk in 1 and 1/3 innings.

Steve Bivens was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty
dim there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans
- they kept cheering us on.  What a sweet win!'
