This series was the Jim Dwyer coming out party!!!!!!!!

may 25

In a close game the San Francisco Giants got by the Los Angeles Dodgers by the
score of 5 to 3.

San Francisco scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 8th inning
scoring 2 runs on 3 hits.  Pete Lacock opened up the scoring as he cracked a
solo homerun (his 6th of the season).  Dave Bergman stepped up next and he
smacked a single.  Bergman got a good lead and stole second.  After an out
was recorded, Jim Dwyer stepped in and he slapped a one-base hit scoring the
final run of the inning.  San Francisco managed only 6 on the night.

The victory was credited to Vida Blue(4-5) who went 8 innings, allowing 3
runs. Doug Bair got the save, his 13th.  Rick Rhoden(2-5) was the loser.  He
surrendered 6 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.

Jim Dwyer smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Bob Knepper delivered 6 solid
innings at Candlestick Park where the San Francisco Giants beat the Los
Angeles Dodgers 3 to 2.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Dwyer.  He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 1st inning and
blasted a two-run home run (his 5th of the season) in the 6th inning.  Los
Angeles had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

The victory was credited to Knepper(5-3) who went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs.
Doug Bair recorded the save, his 14th.  Don Sutton(5-5) took the loss.  He
surrendered only 3 runs and 5 hits in 7 innings.

At Candlestick Park, the SanFrancisco fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.
Jim Barr(2-1) finally bested his Los Angeles opposite, Burt Hooton(5-2), by
the score of 2 to 1.

San Francisco brought 2 runs across the plate in the 3rd inning.  That early
run support was enough for Barr and San Francisco.  The pitchers took over
after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again.

Barr got help from Dale Murray who earned his 2nd save.  Hooton was hit with
the loss.  He gave up 5 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.
