This series was the Jim Dwyer coming out party!!!!!!!! ![]() may 25 In a close game the San Francisco Giants got by the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 5 to 3. San Francisco scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 8th inning scoring 2 runs on 3 hits. Pete Lacock opened up the scoring as he cracked a solo homerun (his 6th of the season). Dave Bergman stepped up next and he smacked a single. Bergman got a good lead and stole second. After an out was recorded, Jim Dwyer stepped in and he slapped a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. San Francisco managed only 6 on the night. The victory was credited to Vida Blue(4-5) who went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs. Doug Bair got the save, his 13th. Rick Rhoden(2-5) was the loser. He surrendered 6 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance provided by Dwyer. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 1st inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 5th of the season) in the 6th inning. Los Angeles had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. The victory was credited to Knepper(5-3) who went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs. Doug Bair recorded the save, his 14th. Don Sutton(5-5) took the loss. He surrendered only 3 runs and 5 hits in 7 innings.
