Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings.  Los Angeles won the

box and slapped a base-hit scoring another run.  Mario Mendoza added to the
uprising and lined a one-base hit.  Davey Lopes stepped into the batter's box
and he drew a walk to load the bases.  Bert Roberge then threw a wild pitch
scoring the final run of the inning.  Both teams ended up with 11 on the
night.

Welch(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing 1 run.
