The Brewers went into the season with high hopes, but after game one Brewers fans are starting to think something must be wrong with their potent offense. Tommy John threw a shutout as the Yankees took the first game of the season 5-0, knocking Brewers ace Moose Haas from the game in the fourth inning, as the Yankees bats came alive.

Tommy John hurled a fine complete game shutout at YANKEE STADIUM where the New York AL Yankees beat the Milwaukee Brewers 5 to 0.
John(1-0) was in control of the game from the outset. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 7 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again.
Moose Haas(0-1) was given the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 5 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings. [2]
