Hooton(11-6) was simply too much for the Chicago NL batters. He allowed only 3 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.78. Los Angeles banged out 7 on the night. The losing pitcher was Mike Krukow(2-16). He gave up 3 runs and 4 hits in 4 and 2/3 innings. When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Krukow was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Hooton brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
