JULY 13

Left fielder Dusty Baker homered and had 3 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers
defeated the Chicago NL Cubs in 11 innings by the score of 5 to 4 at WRIGLEY
FIELD.

The score was tied at 4 after nine.  Finally, Los Angeles pulled the game out
in the 11th inning.  After an out was recorded, Larry Milbourne was hit by a
pitch.  Baker followed and he laced a base-knock.  Steve Garvey then
delivered a single scoring the run.  Los Angeles had a total of 12 hits for
the game.

The win went to Steve Howe(1-2) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. The losing
pitcher was Bill Caudill(4-4) in relief.  He pitched 1 inning giving up 2
hits and 1 walk.

JULY 14

Right fielder Pedro Guerrero had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Burt Hooton pitched
a 3 hit shutout as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the hapless Chicago NL
Cubs 4 to 0 at WRIGLEY FIELD.

Hooton(11-6) was simply too much for the Chicago NL batters.  He allowed only
3 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.78.  Los Angeles banged
out 7 on the night.

The losing pitcher was Mike Krukow(2-16).  He gave up 3 runs and 4 hits in 4
and 2/3 innings.  When questioned about his counterpart after the game,
Krukow was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were
going to be in for a long night.  Hooton brought his 'A' game with him - he
had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly.  He probably only made one
or two bad pitches the entire game!

JULY 15

Jerry Reuss was on top of his game, blanking Chicago NL on just 2 hits at
WRIGLEY FIELD where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Chicago NL Cubs 7 to
0.

Reuss(10-5) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Chicago NL batters.  He allowed only 2 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings improving
his ERA from 3.15 to 2.95.  Los Angeles totaled 12 on the night.

Mike Witt(3-12) took the loss.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 5
runs in 3 innings.  'When Reuss is on like that it is a tough game to play,
no doubt about it,' Alan Bosslet said. 'He always pitches well against us.'
