First baseman Denny Walling had 4 hits at Olympic Stadium where the Montreal
Expos beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 5 to 1.

Montreal had the game winning rally in the 8th inning when they scored 4 runs
on 3 hits.  The key at-bat was by Gary Carter who excited the crowd when he
lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 20th of the season).  The teams had been
locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

Jeff Reardon(9-6) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Billy
Smith(1-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.  He gave up 3 hits and 2 walks
in 1 and 1/3 innings.
