He doubled in the 1st inning, lined a one-base hit scoring two baserunners in the 2nd inning, delivered a base-hit in the 6th inning and blasted a solo shot (his 10th of the season) in the 8th inning. New York AL banged out 12 on the afternoon. McDowell(11-10) lasted until the end allowing 5 runs for the win. Dean Chance(10-11) was charged with the loss. McDowell didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had 12 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'
