The Detroit Tigers nipped the Minnesota Twins 3 to 2 at Tiger Stadium in a
hard fought contest.
Bill Gullickson(1-1) gave Detroit a solid outing. He went 6 and 2/3 innings
and surrended up 6 hits and 1 walk. Minnesota had a chance to come back in
the 9th but they came up short.
Mike Henneman got the save, his 2nd. The loss was charged to Sid
Fernandez(1-1). He allowed just 4 hits and no walks in 6 innings.

In a good matchup it was the Minnesota Twins 4, the Detroit Tigers 2 at Tiger
Stadium.
Minnesota delivered all the runs required in the 6th inning when they came up
with 4 runs on 6 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Kirby Puckett
who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he cracked a two-run
shot. Detroit was out-hit by Minnesota, 12 hits to 8.
The win was credited to Scott Erickson(1-0) who went 6 innings allowing 2
runs. Rick Aguilera got the save, his 3rd. Dave Haas(0-1) was charged with
the loss.
