Brian Harper blocked the plate, saving a run! History was made in
Milwaukee as Cal Eldred(2-0) tossed a no-hitter and the Milwaukee Brewers
defeated the Minnesota Twins by the score of 6 to 0. Eldred had
overwhelming stuff tonight. He simply never gave the
Minnesota batters a decent
pitch to drive. He walked 6 Minnesota batters. The
tension was mounting with
every inning after the 6th. Eldred appeared oblivious himself to the
mounting history until two were out in the 9th. Only
then, did he allow
himself one deep sigh and a slow trip around the mound. Milwaukee had 11
hits for the night. Willie Banks(0-3)
was the loser. He was unable to control the Milwaukee offense and allowed
10 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings. 'Eldred made us
look bad' Darren Dawson said. 'I've seen a lot of good performances in my
time and this one will be tucked away in my memory bank for a long time to
come' ********************************************************************** BOXSCORE: 1993 Minnesota Twins At 1993 Milwaukee Brewers 4/21/1993 Twins AB R H RBI AVG Brewers AB R H RBI AVGL.Polonia LF 3 0 1 0 .277 M.Morandini 2B 5 0 2 0 .250 C-P.Munoz LF 0 0 0 0 .304 D.Hamilton CF 5 2 3 0 .300 C.Knoblauch 2B 5 0 1 0 .271 G.Vaughn LF 5 1 3 3 .310 K.Puckett CF,RF 5 1 2 0 .324 J.Jaha 1B 5 1 2 0 .347 R.Milligan 1B 2 2 2 1 .600 R.Yount DH 4 0 1 0 .266 D-K.Hrbek 1B 0 0 0 0 .171 R.Sierra RF 4 0 1 1
