Game 1 Expos........... 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 0 - 2 5 1 Rockies......... 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 - 1 8 1 Pitching duel in Colorado !! Fassero and Parrett battle to a 1-1 tie after 7 innings. Moises Alou hit his fourth home run of the year off Larry Anderson in the 8th that proves to be the game winner. Mauro Gozzo (1-0) gets the win in his first appearance of 1993 and John Wetteland pitches a scoreless ninth for his 19th save.
Game 2 Expos........... 2 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 4 6 0 Rockies......... 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 - 1 8 1 Expos score 4 early runs off Bottenfield (4-5) but that turns out to be the entire output for the game. Turns out to be enough as Kirk McCaskill (1-0) spreads out eight hits over 6 innings and the Expo bullpen of Martinez and Wetteland (20th save) are stellar.

Dennis Martinez lasts only 4 innings, his biggest sin was walking opposing starter Bruce Ruffin to sustain a 5-run Rockies 2nd inning. The Expos bullpen takes over from there as Gozzo, Rojas and Martinez shut out the Rockies through ten innings. In the meantime, the Expos can’t mount a serious attack until the top of the ninth. Darren Holmes gives up a two-out pinch-hit three run home run to Rondell White (2). Rockies threaten in the 11th inning when Tony Fernandez singles and moves to 2nd on Charlie Hayes ground out. Fernandez is then gunned down trying to steal third on the Tim Scott/Ron Karkovice battery (+9/-4). Jerald Clark follows with a triple (of course) but there is no one on base to drive in. Scott then walks Bichette intentionally to get to Dave Winfield who clutches out on a single to center making Manager Steve look like a genius. Given this gift the Expos score three in the top of the 12th off Curt Leskanic on Berry ’s two-run home run (8) and Larry Walker’s rib triple. A very tired John Wetteland pitching in his third game in-a-row gets his 21st save despite allowing a pair of doubles with two out. Former Expo Andres Galarraga goes 7 for 11 in the series but only scores one run with zero rbi.
