One run was the difference at Three Rivers Stadium as the Los Angeles Dodgers
defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 2 to 1.

Los Angeles won the game with a run in the 9th inning.  Roger Metzger lined a
single.  After an out was recorded, Davey Lopes came up and he doubled.
Johnny Oates then doubled scoring the run.  Pittsburgh went down without a
fight in the bottom of the 9th.

Don Sutton(14-1) was the winner allowing 1 run in 8 innings. Dick Drago got
the save, his 7th.  The loss was charged to Bob Moose(2-3) in relief.

In a tight game it was the Pittsburgh Pirates 7, the Los Angeles Dodgers 5 at
Three Rivers Stadium.

Pittsburgh claimed the early lead in the first inning scoring 2 runners on 2
hits.  The key at-bat was by Dave Parker who brought the crowd to their feet
when he blasted a two-run home run (his 12th of the season).  Pittsburgh
out-hit Los Angeles for the game, 9 hits to 6.

Ken Brett(6-4) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. Brett
got help from Dave Giusti who earned his 16th save.  Marty Pattin(2-6) was
the loser.
