Tom Seaver took a no-hitter into the 8th inning as the potent Cincinnati Reds
defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4 to 2 at Riverfront Stadium.

Seaver(23-3) had a strong outing.  He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 2
hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.  Seaver mowed down 12 Los Angeles batters.
The right-handed Seaver lost his no-hit bid when Oscar Gamble singled with
nobody out in the 8th inning.  For the game Cincinnati out-hit Los Angeles 8
to 2.

Dave Laroche got the save, his 13th.  Don Sutton(23-3) absorbed the loss.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Seaver - except Los Angeles.
Billy Vanson lamented, 'He just was 'on' this afternoon.  He was keeping our
guys off balance all game.  A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes
it a fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'
