And remember, since his card is so unbalanced, only the best left-handed hitters will be in the lineup against him. The same effect is evident in the case of the Mets' Ray Bare -- who also has a backwards card. The A's attempt to anchor their rotation by bring Vern Ruhle aboard has fallen a bit short of hopes, as he has given up 69 hits and 43 runs in 51 innings. As I thought his backwards card would be somewhat effective, decided to look at the voluminous stats kept by our co-commishes.
Vs. LH batters, subtracting 30 x chart and 6 walks, he would have 72 other chances on his card out of every 108 rolls. Averaging Oak and Det ballpark, say 2 of the 5 ballpark chances are hits. Gives up a bit less than 13 hit chances in the other 67 rolls, which would be a total of 15 hit chances in 72 ab's
