Subject: results of Los Angeles @ Cincy

sept 12

The sizzling Los Angeles Dodgers easily topped the Cincinnati Reds; the final
score was 11 to 4.

Los Angeles claimed the early lead in the first inning when they tallied 2
runs on 1 hit.  The key at-bat was by Steve Garvey who quieted the crowd when
he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 17th of the season).  Los
Angeles totaled 7 on the night.

The win went to Bill Butler(2-1) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Dave
Goltz(16-9) was given the loss.  He served up 4 homeruns in his 3 and 2/3
innings.

Can someone please explain to me how the Cy Young voting works....seems to me that Sutton should be a bit closer if not leading....This win TIES the dodgers along with the Reds

Shortstop Ivan Dejesus had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the seemingly unstoppable
Los Angeles Dodgers topped the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 5 to 3 at
Riverfront Stadium.

Don Sutton(27-4) put on a good performance.  He allowed just 5 hits and 1 walk
in 8 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 2 'long-bombs'.  Los Angeles had 9 hits
for the game and Cincinnati had 5.

Dick Drago recorded the save, his 12th.  The losing pitcher was Tom
Seaver(25-4).  He gave up 3 runs and 8 hits in 8 innings.
