sept 12 The sizzling Los Angeles Dodgers easily topped the Cincinnati Reds; the final score was 11 to 4. Los Angeles claimed the early lead in the first inning when they tallied 2 runs on 1 hit. The key at-bat was by Steve Garvey who quieted the crowd when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 17th of the season). Los Angeles totaled 7 on the night. The win went to Bill Butler(2-1) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Dave Goltz(16-9) was given the loss. He served up 4 homeruns in his 3 and 2/3 innings.
